About Rebecca Woodman Taylor
Rebecca Woodman Taylor’s work is shaped by a simple idea: make something meaningful from what is already there. That mindset runs through both her creative work and her career, grounded in resourcefulness, problem solving, and a belief that thoughtful results do not require excess, just intention.
Her connection to the coast began during family summers in Cape Neddick, Maine, where her Nana introduced her to the quiet rhythm of shelling. What started as a small ritual, walking the shoreline, looking in tide pools, and noticing overlooked fragments, grew into a lasting way of seeing. Today, Rebecca continues this approach across beaches throughout the United States, most often returning to Cherry Grove Point in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for both material, inspiration, and time with her Dad.
Each shell, sand dollar, and found object she uses is personally collected and then carefully cleaned and prepared. What others pass by becomes the foundation for refined, place-driven pieces that sit naturally within coastal interiors. Her work reflects a balance of restraint and detail, where natural forms are not overworked but thoughtfully arranged and given new life.
That same perspective carries into her workshops. Guests are guided through the process of collecting, selecting, and transforming shells and coastal materials into finished pieces. There is a focus on seeing potential, learning how to work with what is available, adapting when something does not fit, and finding a solution through design. The process is steady and supportive while still allowing each person to create something personal and distinct.
This way of working is rooted in Rebecca’s broader career. As the founder of RWTNYC, she works as a visual storyteller and strategist, helping small creative businesses build clear, cohesive narratives. Her background spans cultural institutions, nonprofit work, and high-end event production, where she learned to operate within limits such as budgets, timelines, and shifting needs, while still producing work that feels considered and complete.
That experience informs everything she does. Whether she is building a brand, producing an event, or leading a workshop, the focus remains the same: stay resourceful, solve the problem in front of you, and create something that feels intentional, beautiful, and lasting.
At its core, her work, on the shoreline and beyond, is about paying attention, using what is within reach, and shaping it into something worth keeping.
